In a perplexing turn of events, Starlink customers are currently reporting a confusing situation involving email notifications from Elon Musk’s satellite internet service. Numerous users have received emails stating that their accounts have been reset, with all existing orders and payments also reset and set for reimbursement.

According to discussions among affected individuals on Reddit, many new customers have received this notification, including users who have already received and activated their Starlink antennas. For them, the announcement of order cancellations seems illogical as they continue to use the internet service.

A significant challenge for those affected is their inability to log into their accounts, contrary to the instructions in the email. Users report being unable to reset their passwords, receiving an error message stating that an account with the email address was not found.

Possibly a Measure Against Credit Card Fraud

One Reddit user speculates that Starlink may have taken aggressive action against potential credit card fraud, opting to reset accounts and cancel orders as a precaution. However, this explanation does not logically account for users who have already activated the service being affected by the issue.

Affected users are puzzled about how to resolve the problem. They cannot open a support ticket with Starlink as they are unable to log into their accounts, which is a prerequisite. Starlink does not offer telephone customer service; as noted by Ars Technica, the phone number listed on Google belongs to Subaru Starlink, the infotainment system of the Japanese automaker.
