Sony's October Game Catalog adds the latest Mafia, Horizon Forbidden West and seven more, with most arriving Oct. 20 and a second wave on Oct. 27.
Sony's PlayStation Plus Game Catalog adds nine games in October 2026. The two biggest, Mafia: The Old Country and Horizon Forbidden West, arrive on Oct. 20 in the US, along with Mycopunk, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and the Premium-only Dino Crisis 2.
A second wave lands on Oct. 27 with Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2, Tales of Arise and Monster Energy Supercross 25. The Midnight Walk is already available.
If you subscribe to Extra and were about to buy Mafia or Horizon, it is worth waiting until Oct. 20. Horror fans get Poppy Playtime just before Halloween.
PlayStation Plus has a busy October, and the headline game is the newest entry in the Mafia series. Mafia: The Old Country and Horizon Forbidden West both join the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on Oct. 20, alongside seven other games rolling out over two weeks.
If you already pay for Extra or Premium, this is a pile of games you can download at no extra cost. If you are on the cheaper Essential tier, the picture is different, and the dates matter too, since not everything shows up on the same day.
Sony revealed nine games for the October Game Catalog, and they arrive in three batches. These are the dates for US subscribers:
One small wrinkle: listings differ on whether RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 needs Premium or just Extra, so check the PlayStation Store page on the day if you are on Extra.
Mafia: The Old Country is the fourth main Mafia game and a prequel, so you don’t need to have played the others. You play Enzo Favara, a young man in early 1900s Sicily who gets pulled into the Torrisi crime family.
Expect shootouts and horse races, wrapped in a story that also looks at the poverty and labor problems Italians faced at the time. It came out in 2025, which makes it one of the newer big games to land on the service.
Horizon Forbidden West is the other draw. It is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn and follows Aloy as she heads west looking for a cure to a deadly plague, fighting huge machine creatures along the way. It plays on both PS5 and PS4.
The Game Catalog is only for the Extra and Premium tiers. Sony’s service has three levels, Essential, Extra and Premium, with plans starting at $11 a month in the US. It works much like Xbox Game Pass: you get access to a large library for as long as you subscribe.
Essential members still get the regular monthly games, which this October include the racing game F1 25. They won’t see Mafia or Horizon unless they upgrade.
Premium members get everything, including the classic Dino Crisis 2, which is a Premium-only addition this month.
If you already subscribe to Extra and were thinking of buying Mafia or Horizon, waiting a few days could save you the cost.
Horror fans should mark Oct. 27, when Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 arrives just in time for Halloween. It picks up after the first chapter and sends you deeper into the Playtime Co. factory, where you swing, grapple and solve puzzles while trying to stay out of Mommy’s reach.
The release dates above are for the US. Sony has not given separate dates for the UK or Canada in these listings, so timing there may shift slightly.
It joins the Game Catalog on Oct. 20 for US subscribers on the Extra and Premium tiers.
It is included at no extra cost for Extra and Premium members from Oct. 20, on both PS5 and PS4.
Plans start at $11 per month in the US, with Extra and Premium costing more and adding the Game Catalog.
