The new He-Man game, Dragon Pearl of Destruction, now has a firm release date: February 4, 2027. It is a 2D pixel-art beat 'em up from Bitmap Bureau, the studio behind Terminator 2D: No Fate, and it costs $29.99.
Despite a trailer posted on PlayStation's channel, it isn't a PlayStation exclusive. It is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
Play as He-Man, Teela or Man-At-Arms, unlock She-Ra later, and ride Battle Cat.
Two players can team up in local couch co-op.
A $99.99 Collector's Edition with a Power Sword replica has pre-orders closing November 22, 2026.
The game was delayed twice this year, first from April 28 and then from a summer window, before landing on its February date.
He-Man’s new game has finally stopped slipping. Dragon Pearl of Destruction, the latest Masters of the Universe game and a retro side-scrolling brawler built for two players on one couch, now has a firm release date of February 4, 2027, after missing both an April date and a vague summer window this year.
For fans who grew up with the 1980s cartoon, the appeal is simple: it’s a cheap, pick-up-and-play beat ’em up you can share with a friend or a kid on the sofa. The standard edition costs $29.99 in the US and €29.99 in Europe, and it’s coming to far more than PlayStation, despite early coverage that suggested otherwise.

He-Man action game release date and platforms
The He-Man action game release date is February 4, 2027. The game launches digitally and physically on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam. The trailer that announced the date went up on PlayStation’s channel, which is why some early reports, including our first version of this story, treated it as a PlayStation game. It isn’t exclusive to anyone.
Getting here took a while. In April, the publisher said the game was nearing the end of development but needed extra time, and it pushed the launch from April 28 to an unspecified date this summer. Summer came and went without a release, and the February date only arrived in October, alongside a new trailer and the opening of pre-orders for the boxed editions.
Pre-orders opened on October 12, the date marked as He-Man’s official birthday. The standard physical version is sold through Clear River Games and should also reach regular game shops.
This is a 2D beat ’em up, the kind of game where you walk from left to right punching waves of enemies, much like the classic arcade brawlers. It is made by Bitmap Bureau, the studio behind Terminator 2D: No Fate and Final Vendetta, working with Mattel and the retro publishing teams at Limited Run Games and Clear River Games.
The story fits the cartoon. Skeletor and Evil-Lyn are performing an ancient ritual that could plunge Eternia into darkness, and the heroes have to stop them. You fight through a dozen or more stages, including the Royal Palace, the Vine Jungle and the halls of Snake Mountain. The official feature list says 12 stages, while other announcements mention 13, so expect at least a dozen.
The look leans hard on nostalgia, with big, detailed pixel-art characters drawn to resemble the original TV series.

Who you can play as, and the couch co-op
You start with three heroes, each with a different fighting style:
He-Man relies on raw power.
Teela fights quickly with a staff.
Man-At-Arms rounds out the starting team.
She-Ra unlocks as a fourth playable hero once you replay the game. He-Man can also ride Battle Cat, his big cat companion, to plow through Skeletor’s troops.
Two people can play together in local co-op, meaning on the same console and screen rather than online. The trailer and announcements haven’t mentioned online play, so plan on sharing a sofa.
The villains go beyond the obvious picks. Alongside Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Trap Jaw and Beast Man, the developers have pulled in deeper cuts such as the sorceress Shokoti and the Shadow Beasts. Kobra Khan and Orko are also set to appear, and one announcement claims it is the biggest roster of the franchise’s characters ever put in one game.

The collector’s edition and its deadline
If you want more than the $29.99 game, Limited Run Games is selling two exclusive physical versions for Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X. The top Collector’s Edition costs $99.99 in the US, £90 in the UK and $140.99 in Canada. Inside the lunchbox-style box you get:
a replica of He-Man’s Power Sword with a stand;
a 12-page mini comic from Dark Horse Comics;
pin badges based on the game’s sprites, plus an acrylic standee of He-Man riding Battle Cat;
a SteelCase to protect the game.
The first buyers of the Collector’s Edition also get a free 5.5-inch Masters of the Universe Origins He-Man figure while stocks last. Limited Run’s exclusive pre-orders close on November 22, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
For most people, the standard version is the sensible pick. At $29.99, it is priced like a small download game rather than a full-price release, and two-player local co-op makes it an easy choice for a game night with a friend, partner or child who is new to games.
The physical collector’s editions are mainly for fans who want the shelf pieces, and their deadline is much closer than the game itself. If you want one, the date that matters is November 22, not February 4.
Remember too that this game has moved twice. It was first due on April 28, and Limited Run Games delayed it in April, saying the team needed more time to polish it. A firm day is a good sign, but nothing is guaranteed until it ships.
