Quick read · 1 min

Amazon’s About You notes are a personal dossier used to tailor your shopping. You can view and edit entries or add new notes from a computer or a phone.

To edit, go to About You, select an observation to remove or update it, or use + Create to add details. It won’t stop personalization, but it guides what Amazon uses to tailor recommendations.

  • Find it on mobile: Me tab > Your name > About You.
  • On desktop: Account & Lists > Account > About You.
  • Editing doesn’t erase your order history or past searches.

Shoppers have a quicker way to peek at and adjust Amazon’s personal notes. The About You page acts like a dossier that helps tailor what you see while browsing and buying. You can view what Amazon thinks it knows about you, and you can tweak or remove entries so your recommendations better reflect your current tastes.

Here’s how to find and modify those notes if you want to update them.

01

Where to find your About You page

On mobile, open the Me tab, tap your name, then select About You. On the web, go to Account & Lists > Account, and choose About You under the Ordering and shopping preferences section. You can also pull up the full page by asking Alexa for Shopping information and following the link it provides.

How to edit or remove notes

Tap or click any observation to open a pop-up where you can delete or update the detail. There’s a text box to add feedback or more information. If you want to add details, click the + Create button at the top left. You can describe your style, hobbies, or who you shop for, and you can even copy information from other AI assistants by pasting it in.

03

What changing notes actually does

Editing or removing entries doesn’t turn off personalization entirely. It simply tells Amazon not to use that specific detail for recommendations. It also doesn’t erase the underlying purchase history, reviews, searches, or conversations that led to the observation.

04

Tips for everyday use

Look for entries that feel oddly precise or outdated, like a hobby you no longer pursue. If you share devices with family members, decide whether you want to separate or limit personal notes. You can add new details to guide Amazon toward suggestions that fit you better, just keep privacy in mind.

05

What happens next

Regularly checking About You and adjusting notes as your shopping habits change can help keep suggestions aligned with what you actually want to see, without surprises.
