Fiat rolled out the Multiplay concept at the Paris Motor Show 2026, a 4.45-meter vehicle that can morph from a six-seat family car into a four-seat pickup with an open cargo bed. The rear section slides on guided tracks, and a rotating spoiler becomes a two-bike rack. Inside, modular elements like the Petsenger seat and Sunseat add flexibility for families and gear. Fiat says it’s a lab for ideas, with no production plans yet. If the concept moves toward a real model, expect details on powertrains, pricing, and timing later.
Fiat stunned visitors at the Paris Motor Show 2026 with a bold idea for family cars: the Multiplay concept, a compact 4.45-meter vehicle that can morph between a six-seat family setup and a four-seat pickup with an open cargo bed. The trick lies in a rear section built around the C-Pillar “Metamorfosi” architecture, which slides along guided tracks to reconfigure the space.
In its default form, Multiplay seats six and packs surprisingly flexible cargo space. When you need to haul bikes or bulky gear, you slide the rear module forward and the car instantly becomes a pickup with a loading area behind the cabin.
Fiat’s design isn’t just about a bigger trunk. The rear spoiler folds into a two-bike rack, so you can carry bicycles without attaching extra equipment. Inside, Fiat introduces a modular interior concept called the Petsenger seat, which can hold a child seat, accommodate a pet, serve as a small table, or act as extra storage. A portion of the cushion can detach and function as a dog leash, and a fold-out bowl is tucked into the door for pets on the go.
A further clever touch is the Sunseat feature, which lets the front passenger rotate to face backward when the car is parked, turning the cabin into a lounge beneath a large glass roof. Fiat also places the main display out of sight when the vehicle is off, hiding it behind the dashboard for a cleaner look. Waterproof materials line areas likely to see kids and pets, emphasizing practicality for everyday life.
Power and production details are absent. Fiat describes Multiplay as a “laboratory” for ideas that could appear in future family cars, but no engine, drivetrain, range, price, or production timetable has been announced.

What makes Multiplay different
The standout feature is the transformable rear that lets you switch from a people-focused layout to a cargo-first setup in seconds. The integrated bike rack and Petsenger seat are part of the core concept, showing how a single vehicle could handle school runs and weekend trips without needing multiple cars.

Why Fiat is showing ideas like Multiplay now
Concepts like Multiplay let automakers explore new packaging and experiences without committing to production. It fits a broader trend where families want flexible space and easy everyday use, with room for bikes and gear on weekends. There’s no timing or price yet, so Multiplay remains a concept, not a showroom model.
03
What this could mean for everyday drivers
If a version of this idea makes it to a future model, you could see a car that adapts to the week: six seats for school runs, then more cargo room for bikes and gear on weekends. The Petsenger and Sunseat examples show interiors that adapt to different activities without clutter. The big questions are about timing, cost, and how safety and reliability would be balanced with the design flair.

What happens next
Fiat hasn’t shared production plans or a schedule. Multiplay remains a laboratory for ideas that could influence future family cars. If the concept progresses, expect updates on powertrain choices, potential electric options, pricing, and timing from Fiat.
