GTA 6 has not been delayed again. Rockstar Games still has Grand Theft Auto 6 launching on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its launch trailer in mid-October repeated that date.

The rumors come from a wave of other games moving to 2027 to avoid GTA 6, including FromSoftware's The Duskbloods and Microsoft's Fable. Headlines mixing delay, 2027 and GTA 6 have made it look like Rockstar is slipping, when the field is really clearing for it.

  • The game was delayed twice before: from fall 2025 to May 2026, then to November.
  • There's no PC version at launch, and its timing is unconfirmed.
  • Take-Two's earnings report, reportedly due November 10, is the next big checkpoint.

Is GTA 6 delayed again? No. Grand Theft Auto 6 is still coming on Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar Games pushed out its launch trailer in mid-October with that date attached.

So why is everyone searching for a delay? Because nearly everyone else is delaying. A string of big games has fled late 2026 for 2027, and each new announcement sets off another round of posts claiming GTA 6 is next. With launch only weeks away, here’s what has been confirmed, what hasn’t, and the dates that will actually tell you if anything changes.

Is GTA 6 delayed again? What’s official right now

The official picture hasn’t changed since Rockstar set the date last year:

  • Release date: Thursday, November 19, 2026.
  • Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation Store also lists it as a PS5 Enhanced title, so it’s tuned for the PS5 Pro.
  • Unlock time: Rockstar hasn’t announced one, but console store listings point to midnight in each local time zone, so New Zealand players get in first.
  • Preload: reports say digital preloading opens a week early, on November 12.

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, also hasn’t signaled any change. Its next quarterly earnings report is reportedly set for November 10, nine days before launch. That’s the moment a delay would normally surface, because the last one was announced alongside Take-Two’s results.

Why the GTA 6 delay rumors keep spreading

The rumors feed on other people’s calendars. Publishers don’t want their games buried under the biggest release of the year, so many are moving out of the way:

  • The Duskbloods: FromSoftware’s Switch 2 exclusive was just pushed to 2027. The studio blamed final balance work, but a late-2026 launch would have gone head-to-head with GTA 6.
  • Fable: Microsoft and Playground Games moved the fantasy reboot into 2027.
  • Emberville: its developer delayed the action RPG to January 2027 a day before its planned launch.

Each of those headlines contains the words delayed and 2027, and many mention GTA 6 as the reason. Skim enough of them on social media and it’s easy to come away thinking Rockstar is the one slipping. It’s the opposite: the field is clearing because GTA 6 is staying put.

GTA 6 has been delayed twice before

Skepticism is understandable, because this has happened before. Rockstar first aimed for fall 2025. It then moved the game to May 26, 2026, saying it needed time to hit the quality fans expect. In November 2025, alongside Take-Two’s quarterly results, came the second delay, to November 19.

That second slip wasn’t easy news to deliver. Rockstar’s head of publishing, Jennifer Kolbe, later said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s first reaction was, “You’re kidding. Please tell me you’re kidding.” Once the team walked him through its reasons, she said, he accepted it. Kolbe also denied reports that the game cost $1.5 billion to make, though the real budget remains unconfirmed.

Zelnick’s public line at the time was that the new date still landed in the same fiscal year, which mattered to investors. That’s one more reason a further slip into 2027 would be a big deal, and why it would almost certainly come with a formal announcement rather than quiet rumor.

What about GTA 6 on PC and GTA Online?

Here’s where waiting is guaranteed. GTA 6 won’t be on PC on November 19, and Rockstar hasn’t given a PC date. Reports point to early 2027, possibly the first quarter, while some analysts expect late 2027 or early 2028. Treat any PC date as unconfirmed.

History suggests patience. GTA 5 hit PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles in October 2018 and arrived on PC in November 2019.

The online mode is also separate. GTA 6 launches as a single-player game, and a Bloomberg report says its online component is planned for 2027. Rockstar hasn’t announced a date for it.

Getting ready for launch week

If you plan to play on day one, the date is firm enough to start preparing. A digital preorder is the only way to use the reported preload window, so the download is already on your console when the game unlocks. Free up storage space now, since a game this size will need plenty and you don’t want to be deleting old games at midnight.

If you’re deciding between a regular PS5 and a PS5 Pro, the Enhanced label means the Pro version will get extra tuning, but the standard console runs the same game on the same day.

How to check the GTA 6 release date yourself

  1. Go to the source. Rockstar’s official X account and its own website announced both previous delays. If neither says anything, the date stands.
  2. Watch November 10. Take-Two’s earnings report is the most likely place for any last-minute schedule news.
  3. Check your console store. Your PlayStation or Xbox preorder page shows the current release date and will update if it changes.
  4. Ignore screenshot rumors. A cropped tweet or a video thumbnail saying 2027 isn’t evidence.
