SpaceXSI, Elon Musk's AI company, has merged Grok, Grok Bot, the Cursor coding tool and X Premium into one plan called The X Subscription, announced October 12.

  • Plus, $8 a month: core Grok tools, Cursor and a Premium checkmark on X
  • Premium, $30 a month: four times the usage, Grok Bot, ad-free X and more Cursor features
  • Super, $100, and Ultra, $200: 15 and 50 times the Plus usage

All paid tiers share one weekly AI allowance across Grok and Cursor. The company says Premium covers what used to cost $90 a month for three separate plans, so heavy users of both Grok and X save the most. Rival models inside Cursor, like Claude or GPT, are billed extra.

Current subscribers can stay on their old plans for now and switch later with a prorated refund.

For $30 a month, Elon Musk’s AI company now sells what used to cost $90: Grok’s top chatbot features, the Cursor coding tool and ad-free X, all on one bill. SpaceXSI, the company formerly called SpaceXAI, announced The X Subscription on October 12, with four paid tiers from $8 to $200 a month.

If you pay for any of these services today, or have been eyeing an AI subscription, this changes the math. Some people will save real money. Others, especially programmers who rely on rival AI models inside Cursor, could end up paying more than they expect. Here is how the plans break down.

01

X Subscription prices: what each tier costs

The X Subscription has four paid tiers, plus a free level that sits underneath them. Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes such as VAT.

  • Free: $0. Daily Grok access with tight limits, a small starter allowance for Cursor’s coding agents and normal X posting.
  • Plus: $8 a month. Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, the Grok API for developers, Cursor access, and on X a Premium checkmark, fewer ads, creator tools and advanced analytics.
  • Premium: $30 a month. Four times the AI usage of Plus, Grok Bot, the newest Grok models, faster replies, AI image and video creation, extra Cursor tools, ad-free scrolling on most of X and a preferred @handle.
  • Super: $100 a month. Everything in Premium with 15 times the Plus usage and priority access to models when demand peaks.
  • Ultra: $200 a month. 50 times the Plus usage and the earliest access to every new product and model.

Some early reports put Ultra at 20 times Plus. The company’s own pricing table says 50 times, so go by that.

What you actually get in Grok, Cursor and X

The big change is one shared pool of AI usage. Instead of separate limits for each product, every paid plan gets a single allowance that covers the Grok apps, the Grok tab inside X and Cursor’s coding agents. Within Grok it covers chat, image making, voice and Grok Bot.

That allowance refreshes every week, not every month, so a single heavy day won’t burn through your whole month. Run out and you can buy top-ups or wait for the reset. Your remaining usage shows in settings.

For coders, Premium unlocks the Cursor features most people pay for: code hosting, AI code reviews, cloud agents and automations. Cursor is the AI coding assistant SpaceXSI bought earlier this year (reports differ on whether the deal closed in June or August). The company says each new tier includes at least twice the coding usage, on its own models, of the matching old standalone Cursor plan.

On the X side, Plus behaves like the old basic Premium with a checkmark and fewer ads. From Premium up, ads disappear on most parts of the app.

03

Who saves money, and who might not

The clearest winners are people who already paid for both Grok and X. The company’s pricing table says the $30 Premium tier covers what SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ used to cost together: $90 a month. Even without Cursor, SuperGrok and ad-free X ran about $30 each before.

If you only use one product, the picture is less rosy. Someone who just wants a chatbot can get Claude Pro, ChatGPT Plus or Google AI Pro for $20 a month, so $30 is still a step up unless you also want the X perks.

The real catch is for programmers. Rival models in Cursor, such as Claude or GPT, sit outside the shared pool. SpaceXSI bills that usage separately at standard API rates through top-ups. The company says the new plans give more usage per dollar of its own models, and that wording matters: if your workflow leans on non-Grok models, check your typical usage before switching. Spending caps are available to stop surprise bills.

There’s one more unknown. The company describes usage as multiples of Plus (4x, 15x, 50x) but hasn’t said how much Plus actually includes in absolute terms.

04

What happens to your current X Premium, SuperGrok or Cursor plan

Nothing changes right away for existing subscribers. If you already pay for Cursor, SuperGrok or X Premium, your plan, price and features carry on. SpaceXSI simply stopped selling those standalone plans to new customers.

A switch button is rolling out in billing settings, with limited-time offers and a prorated refund on the old plan. Cursor users keep their included third-party model usage until they move over. The company says remaining customers will eventually be migrated, with advance notice, but it hasn’t set a date.

05

Teams, availability and buying safely

Businesses get Premium, Super and Ultra as team plans at the same per-seat prices as individuals, starting from $30 per user per month. Team seats add single sign-on, admin controls, shared billing, usage analytics and SOC 2 compliance, a common security certification. Large organizations can ask for custom Enterprise deals.

New customers could sign up on the company’s pricing page from launch, and SpaceXSI said it would roll the plan out globally within days. It has not published separate UK or Canadian prices, and App Store pricing wasn’t listed at launch, so expect local amounts to differ once tax is added.

One safety tip: SpaceXSI says it sells the subscription only through its own website and may suspend accounts bought from resellers. If you see a cheap Ultra plan on a marketplace, skip it. You can cancel anytime, as long as you do it at least 24 hours before renewal.
