Apple’s HomeView is available in two versions at $299, but the wall-mounted option isn’t just the same device on a different stand. You’ll likely pay extra for mounting hardware and potentially installation services.

For most people, that means a pricier wall setup than a simple desk model. You’ll also face limited color options if you choose wall-mounting, and audio may differ between models.

  • USB-C wall connector: $59.95
  • AC wired wall mount: $79.95
  • Power over Ethernet wired mount: $129.95 (not yet available)

Pre-orders are open now and shipment begins November 13.

Apple is selling two HomeView options at the same starting price of $299, but the wall-mounted version ends up costing more once you add mounting hardware. The base price covers the display and its built-in speakers, while the wall-mount approach requires you to buy hardware separately if you want it on a wall.

Here’s what that means for your wallet and your setup. Apple sells three mounting options that affect price and installation effort. A USB-C wall connector from Schneider Home costs $59.95 and is designed for a self-install setup using a standard USB-C cable and a power adapter. An AC wired wall mount, priced at $79.95, routes power inside the wall and Apple suggests professional installation in many homes and offers installation services through a partner. A Power over Ethernet wired mount is listed at $129.95, but Apple notes it isn’t available yet and will require a PoE-enabled home network. There’s also a no-mount option that ships with the wall-mounted hardware not included, which is effectively a wall-mount-ready model with no extra pieces in the box.

Color choices for the wall-mounted version are more limited. It’s offered only in silver or space gray, whereas the speaker-base version comes in additional colors like starilight and rose pink. In terms of audio, both versions include two custom full-range drivers in the display, but the wall-mounted variant uses computational audio tuned for on-wall placement. The speaker-base model adds a down-firing woofer and two passive radiators that aren’t available on the wall-mounted unit.

Reviews will likely compare the two models on sound and practical use. For now, the practical takeaway is simple: if you want a clean wall setup you’ll probably pay more overall, and you’ll need to decide how you’re going to mount it and how you’ll run power to the device.

Apple says the HomeView launches on November 13 in many markets, with pre-orders already open. If you’re shopping around, think about whether you’ll need professional installation or a specific color, and budget the additional mounting costs into your total.
